Wheel of Time Universe
Series of novels by Robert Jordan. Fantasy world where some people can gain magical abilities by channeling the One Power from the True Source. The heroes are battling against the Dark One, the malevolent force trying to spread evil throughout the world. There are two halves of the True Source, one male and one female. The male half is called saidin, and the female half is saidar. Saidin had a taint placed by the Dark One that resulted in the eventual madness of any man who could channel. That taint was very recently removed. There is a school and organization of women who can channel. Fully trained women of this organization are called Aes Sedai. Long ago there were male Aes Sedai, but that ended when the taint was placed on saidin and all the male Aes Sedai went mad and destroyed the world as it was known, an event referred to as the Breaking.
Moiraine Damodred- An Aes Sedai. Several years earlier, she fell into a magical doorway and disappeared, presumed dead. In this story, she has recently returned from the world on the other side of the doorway. This differs from the book, where she is still missing.
Lanfear- One of the Forsaken, a group of extremely old and powerful men and women who can channel, and are the highest ranking servants of the Dark One. Lanfear pushed Moiraine through the doorway through which she disappeared, Moiraine managed to pull her through as well. Presumed dead.

Rand alThor- A former farmboy who turned out to be the Dragon Reborn, a reincarnation of the most powerful male Aes Sedai who participated in the Breaking. He is prophesied to face the Dark One in the Last Battle, but possibly break the world again in the process. He is now in control of several countries and preparing for the last battle by gathering men who can channel. Recently succeeded in cleansing the taint from the male half of the True Source. Also, he is in love with three women who have amicably agreed to share him.
Elmindreda Min Farshaw- A young woman who has the apparently unique ability to see auras and visions around people. Known for wearing breeches instead of skirts. One of Rand alThors lovers.

Terangreal- Objects or artifacts with magical abilities.
Ashaman- Rands army of men who can channel.
Nynaeve alMeara- Woman from the same hometown as Rand alThor. She is possibly the most powerful woman in channeling the Power for centuries. She has a short temper, and tugs on her braid when angry. Nynaeve has great skill in Healing with the Power. She, with Rand alThor, cleansed the male half of the True Source, as the task required both a man and woman working together.
Shadar Logoth- A ruined city tainted by evil. Long ago, it was a great city called Aridhol. It was visited by an evil man who sowed suspicion among everyone, and eventually the city destroyed itself. Rand alThor and Nynaeve alMeara performed the cleansing of the male half of the True Source at Shadar Logoth, which completely destroyed it and left a huge crater where it used to be.
Elayne Trakand- Heir to the throne of Andor, and also claiming the throne of Cairhien. Very strong in the Power. One of Rand alThors lovers.
alLan Mandragoran- Called Lan, for short. Formerly Moiraines Warder, which means he was bonded to her with the Power, and was sworn to protect her. That bond was broken when Moiraine disappeared. He is also the last surviving member and king of Malkier, a country destroyed by shadowspawn, creatures of the Dark One. He is now married to Nynaeve.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer Universe
Television show created by Joss Whedon. In a world filled with vampires and demons, one girl becomes the Slayer and is bestowed with supernatural strength and reflexes, along with the duty to battle evil. Previously, when the current Slayer died, the best candidate from the current potential Slayers would become the Slayer. When the show ended after seven seasons, the heroes cast a spell that made it so every potential Slayer gains the powers of a Slayer.
Buffy Summers- Became the Slayer her freshman year in high school. From Sunnydale, California. During the course of the show, she died in order to save the world on two different occasions, but was brought back. At the end of the show, Sunnydale is destroyed. In this story, she has moved to England, along with most of the gang. Her mother died when she was twenty. When the show ended, she was twenty-two. At the time this story takes place, she is twenty-four.
Willow Rosenberg- One of Buffys best friends, and a witch. She went to school with Buffy. A few years prior to this point she had a problem with addiction to magic, and lost control when her girlfriend was killed. When she becomes evil, her hair and eyes turn black and black veins appear on her face. After that, Willow went to England for a short period to learn from a coven of witches, to learn to control her use of magic. She performed the spell which caused all the potential Slayers to become Slayers. On that occasion, when she performed a great magical feat while in control of her magic, her hair turned white. At the end of the show, she had a girlfriend named Kennedy who was a former potential Slayer who gained Slayer powers. In this story, Willow and Kennedy both moved to England and recently moved in together.
Rupert Giles- Middle aged English man. Buffys watcher, a guardian assigned the Slayer to inform her of her duties and help her train. In this story, he is currently living back in England, near Buffy.
Xander Harris- Buffys other best friend. He also went to school with Buffy and helped her fight evil, despite having no magical powers. He is known to have bad luck in love, as women he becomes involved with have a tendency to turn out to be demons. Near the end of the show, he lost an eye to a powerful, evil man who used his position as a priest to lure and kill young women. In this story, he has moved to England and lives near Buffy.
Note: I have not watched Angels spin-off show, so I apologize for any inconsistencies between Angel and this story regarding Angel and Spike.
Angel- Short for Angelus, Angel is a powerful vampire who committed terrible atrocities before a vengeful Gypsy restored his soul as a punishment. He becomes Buffys first love, but when they expressed their love physically, he lost his soul and became evil again. They managed to restore his soul again, but because he cannot have a moment of true happiness without losing his soul, he moves away from Buffy to L.A. In this story, he has just started a new job at the FBI and now lives in Washington. (This is just a humorous nod to the show Bones where David Boreanaz, the actor who played Angel now plays an FBI agent)
Spike- A powerful vampire who began as a nemesis of Buffys. Then a secret military organization put a chip in his head that prevented him from killing. He became harmless, though still evil. He developed an obsession with Buffy. Eventually he and Buffy began a sexual relationship. The first time they made love, they destroyed a house in the process. Later, Spikes soul was restored and he fell in love with Buffy. At the end of the show, Buffy told him she loved him just before he sacrificed himself to save the world. In the show Angel, he is brought back to life, but decides to stay in L.A. rather than seek Buffy out.
Glory- A god, banished to earth from a hell dimension, who created a large opening into other dimensions in order to find her way home.
Dawn Summers- Originally a mystical key that a group of monks made human, in the form of Buffys younger sister. Glory used her to open the way into the other dimensions.
Hellmouth- A point of increased supernatural energy, which attracts vampires and demons. There was one in Sunnydale, California, until it was destroyed at the end of the show.
Olivia- An English woman who is an old friend of Giles, with whom she has some romantic connection. She only appeared in a couple of episodes.
Sweet- A demon that causes people around him to act as if they are in a musical.

He can feel the threads of magic that make up the Enchanted Forest, and can travel along them to anywhere in the Enchanted Forest. He only has this ability within the Enchanted Forest, and he is the only one who has this ability.
Cimorene- Mendanbars wife. Formerly a strong-willed and rebellious princess who asked a dragon to take her hostage to avoid an arranged marriage. Later fell in love with Mendanbar and became his queen.

Harry Potter Universe
Note- This is the primary universe for this story. You should have at least read the first six Harry Potter books before reading this story.
Takes place in modern England. There is a secret civilization of witches and wizards, unbeknownst to human without magical powers. This story takes place after the sixth book, disregarding the seventh.
Harry Potter- A seventeen-year-old boy, famous in the wizarding world for surviving an attack with a killing curse from the most powerful evil wizard of the time. The wizard killed Harrys parents, then attempted to kill Harry. The spell rebounded, leaving the infant Harry with only a scar on his forehead, and presumably destroying the evil wizard.
Number Twelve, Grimmauld Place- Harrys godfathers childhood home, which now belongs to Harry.
Voldemort- The most powerful evil wizard in existence, and Harrys nemesis. More than a decade after failing to kill Harry, Voldemort returned and has been amassing strength in an attempt to kill Harry and reestablish his regime. When Voldemort experiences particularly strong emotions, Harry sometimes feels pain in his scar and sees visions. Once, after realizing this, Voldemort planted a false vision in Harrys mind to manipulate him, but since then has been careful to shield his mind from Harry to avoid revealing information. Voldemort is so widely feared that only a very few wizards dare say his name aloud. Most refer to him as You-Know-Who or He Who Must Not Be Named. Even his followers avoid saying his name, claiming it would be blasphemy. They refer to him as the Dark Lord. There is a prophecy concerning Harry Potter and Voldemort: The one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord approaches... born to those who have thrice defied him, born as the seventh month dies... and the Dark Lord will mark him as his equal, but he will have power the Dark Lord knows not... and either must die at the hand of the other for neither can live while the other survives... the one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord will be born as the seventh month dies...
Occlumens- A wizard proficient in the field of Occlumency, the ability to prevent other wizards from invading ones mind.
Legilimens- A wizard proficient in the field of Legilimency, the ability to invade anothers mind.
Ginny Weasley- Harrys best friends younger sister, sixteen years old. In the sixth book, Harry and Ginny started a relationship. Because he decided not to go back to school, however, and in order to protect her, Harry broke up with her.
Ron Weasley- One of Harrys best friends. Belongs to a large wizarding family.
Hermione Granger- Harrys other best friend. An extremely intelligent and accomplished witch for her age. Born of non-magical parents, both dentists.
The Burrow- The Weasley home.
The Dursleys- Harrys mothers sister, Petunia, her husband Vernon, and their son, Dudley. They live on Privet Drive. They raised Harry despite their abhorrence of all things magical. The headmaster of Harrys magical school placed special protection against Voldemort on the Dursley house, and requested that Harry stay there until his seventeenth birthday. This story begins about a week after Harrys birthday.
Bill Weasley- Rons older brother.
Fleur Delacour- A French witch in love with Bill Weasley.
Death Eaters- Followers of Voldemort
The Malfoys- A rich wizarding family known to be supporters of Voldemort. Draco, their son, is a classmate and longtime rival of Harrys. His parents, Lucius and Narcissa, are some of the most loyal of Voldemorts servants, though they seem to have fallen a bit out of favor since Voldemorts return because Voldemort felt they did not do enough to locate him during his absence.
Albus Dumbledore- The Headmaster of the UKs wizarding school, Hogwarts, and Harrys mentor. Widely known as the only wizard whom Voldemort feared. He died at the end of the sixth book.
Kreacher- A house elf, a race of creatures used as servants in the wizarding world. Kreacher belonged to the family of Harrys godfather, and is sympathetic to dark wizards. He is also insane. He currently works at Hogwarts. In this story, it is assumed he still has access to Number Twelve, Grimmauld place.
Lumos- A spell that creates light from the tip of a wand.
Accio- A spell to summon an object to the caster.
Crookshanks- Hermiones cat.
Mudblood- A derogatory name used to refer to people born of non-magical parents.
Sirius Black- Harrys godfather. Presumed dead since the end of the fifth book, when he fell through a magical archway and disappeared. His will left Harry with all his possessions.
Bellatrix Lestrange- Recently escaped from Azkaban, the wizard prison, she is known to be one of Voldemorts most loyal, powerful, and sadistic followers. Was put in Azkaban for the use of torture. She cast the spell that caused Sirius to fall through the archway. She is also Siriuss cousin.
Disapparate- With a proper license, wizards can travel by Apparition, the ability to disappear from one place and instantly appear in another. Disappearing is referred to as Disapparition.
Horcrux- An object used to hold part of a persons soul so that they cannot be killed by the destruction of their body. This is how Voldemort survived the killing curse that rebounded against him. Voldemort made six horcruxes, so that his soul would be split into seven parts. Two have already been destroyed- a ring and a diary. A locket belonging to Salazar Slytherin, a founder of Hogwarts is a suspected horcrux, but when Harry and Dumbledore went to find it, it had been replaced with another locket by someone who left a note signed R.A.B. Another suspected horcrux is a cup, whereabouts unknown, once owned by Helga Hufflepuff, another founder of Hogwarts. It is speculated that other horcruxes may have been made using items belonging to the other two founders of Hogwarts, Rowena Ravenclaw and Godric Gryffindor. Voldemorts large pet snake, Nagini, is also a possible horcrux. In order to truly destroy Voldemort, his horcruxes must be destroyed first.
Muggles- Non-magic people.
Felix Felicis- A potion that causes the user to become extremely lucky.
Finite Incantatem- A spell to end the effects of a previous spell.
Mobili- A spell prefix used to move things.
Pensieve- A magical basin where thoughts and memories can be stored. Using this, Harry has seen scenes of Voldemorts past, including images of Slytherins locket and Hufflepuffs cup.
Animagus- A wizard who can transform into an animal.
Fred and George Weasley- Ron and Ginnys twin brothers. Notorious jokers and pranksters.
Molly Weasley- The Weasley childrens mother.
Severus Snape- A Hogwarts professor, and Head of Slytherin House. He went to school with Harrys father and hated him, and now hates Harry. He used to be a Death Eater, then was apparently working as a spy for Dumbledore. At the end of the sixth book, however, he kills Dumbledore.
Dementors- Formerly the guardians of Azkaban, the wizard prison, they have now joined Voldemort. They are robed, shadowy, flying creatures that feed on happiness and cause people to relive their worst memories when they are near.
Avada Kedavra- One of three Unforgivable curses, outlawed in the wizarding world. Also known as the Killing Curse, it instantly kills the target.
Imperius Curse- One of three Unforgivable Curses that are outlawed in the wizarding world. The Imperius Curse allows the caster to have control over the targets actions. Incantation: Imperio.
Parseltongue- The language of snakes. Both Harry Potter and Voldemort are parselmouths, meaning that they can speak parseltongue and communicate with snakes.
Sectum Sempra- A spell created by Severus Snape. It creates large gashes on the chest and face of the target, severe enough to be fatal if not healed immediately. Harry once used it on Draco Malfoy, not knowing it what it would do.
Cruciatus Curse- One of three Unforgivable Curses that are outlawed in the wizarding world. Causes intense pain. Incantation: Crucio.
Veela- A magical creature that looks like a woman with blonde hair, and has magically enchanting beauty.

Based on a trilogy by Philip Pullman: The Golden Compass, The Subtle Knife, and The Amber Spyglass. A world of infinite universes occupying the same space. There are some natural openings between universes, but problems arise when unnatural openings are created. This story takes place four years after the end of the trilogy.

A person cannot survive a full lifetime in a world other than their own. They had to close the openings between their worlds, and because neither could bear the thought of the other dying early, they decided to separate at the end of the trilogy. They agreed to come to a spot that is similar in both their worlds once a year, to feel close to one another.
